Default 1930 CC Pickup Help

I am currently working on a 1930 Closed Cab pickup. The cab started off as an AA cab that my father had re-done 35 years ago. I have since bought a "pickup" engine & chassis from a guy that was restoring a pickup but lost interest. I mounted the cab and it is about 3/4" to an 1" too far forward. The hood does not fit and the accelerator hits the firewall. Does anyone know the proper mounting position for a pickup cab? Is it possible the frame is from a car and the mounting holes are slightly different? Any help would be appreciated.

They are the same.If you are trying to line up the two bolts at the bottom of the door post with the two holes in the bracket on the frame the cab will be in the wrong place.Only one of those bolts actually goes through the bracket on some, and the other hole just uses a carriage bolt just through the wood body block.Start at the single bolt at the front,at the foot of the firewall.I think you'll be fine.

Thank you, I will start there. I put the cab on a couple years ago and I don't remember exactly what I did but I know I re drilled some holes to get the body blocks to mount up. Anybody have a photo of the correct mounting?

The book that Gary WA refers to above is "The Model A Ford as Henry Built It" which is available at many Model A parts suppliers. The chart within states which hole in the frame is used and the fastener size for all body styles. Lots of other info too. Has been referred to as the "brown bible" over the years.

You shouldn't have to drill anything. There are some rear body mounts in different place on the later frames, but they are towards the rear and the changes don't apply to the pickups.

First of all do you have a early 1930 (28-29 style) cab or the later 1930 style cab?

Second...The reason you may not be lining up, up front is because the front body mounting brackets, the ones with two holes in them, were moved sometime and this may be your problem in that the frame you have is not set up for your body style.

Go to my website and review the frame article I did for MAFCA a few years ago...this may answer your questions.

Keith is right!! thats the way mine is

only one hole on the frame bracket lines up by the door post,

sounds like you need to push your cab back 2" then it will be Ok
