Default "Skinned Knuckles" magazine??

Considering a subscription; both for monthly reading and tips on maintaining the car. What does the Commetariate say?

I have subscribed for 35 years ... great range of articles about a wide range of cars and types. Many ideas for tools and methods of repair.

If you like old cars, unmodified old cars, like working on them yourselves and learning how its a fantastic magazine. I've taken it for several years and although its nothing fancy, the only color is the red color and then newsprint pages its one of my favorites. No ads for non old car related crap, nothing on how to put Hemi in your Model A... Its a mix between how to, history, interesting reprints of old material, and troubleshooting. If you like Old Cars Weekly this is like that sans 3/4 of the ads and longer articles.

Still worth subscribing to presently and also worthwhile to collect those from the Matt Joseph era (~pre 2004 I think?). Many articles from that time illustrated tools, techniques, and tricks to fabricate parts or to restore those made from unobtainium. There has been much drift away from useful restoration info in the last few years including worthless transcripts of Jay Leno videos widely available on the web that had nothing to do with restoration. They seem to have improved somewhat of late.

Only rarely has anything on Model A's, but lots of interesting lore if you're interested in old cars and trucks in general. If you're just getting started in Model A'ing, there's a bunch of higher priority stuff. Printed on cheap paper, so photos are not much.

Skinned Knuckles if you can acquire the issues when Paul Moller did the various components on the A are good as are the issues when Matt Joseph did the Restoration Primer series. Originally started by William Cannon who retired due to age and such and has turned the reins over to Neil Maken.
