Default Tire lock...Restorer

It seems to me they featured a study on "accessory spare tire locks" in the Restorer.
....I purchased one at the swap meet and need to find out if it's correct for my car, but danged if I can find the article

Offhand, does anybody know what issue this was in?

Thanks if you can help.

Craig,

To find an old article in Model A News (MAN) (MARC), The Resotrer (TR) (MAFCA), Model A Times (MAT) or The Double A'er (TDA), go to my website and then go to Parts and Articles Index. There you will find a list of articles from the above publications according to FORD's Parts Price List/Body Parts List.

For what you are looking for...here it is:

OK thanks guys for the info on my tire lock.
The Judging stds. had all the info I needed, and I'm still looking for that Restorer article.
At first I was mildly apprehensive to buy this lock at the swap meet as I wasn't sure if it would be correct for my 31 coupe & the guy wasn't budging on the price. Both the lock & band size might be wrong.... and I had left my judging stds behind so no way to check.
I finally talked myself into it on the reasoning that it would be an easy resell if not right for me since it showed very little use.

I skuttled back to the swap meet in the morning
(yes paid another $25 parking fee) and was relieved to see it still there on the guy's table.

I'm not normally this lucky... but the judging stds confirms it indeed has a 19" band plus the replaceable lock cylinder introduced in April 31...the same production date as my Model A!
This was really the star of the show for me & I feel pretty fortunate to have found it

I have that same lock mechanism on my late 31 150B, but there isnt a band. Would that be the correct lock for a fender mount spare since there is no way of getting the tire off when its in the well with the rim locked as oposed to a rear mount? Or am I missing the band?

The J.stds page 16-10 shows a "side mount spare lock" as you describe Craig, no band, just the lock housing with a spring loaded anti-rattle pin sticking out the back.
The one shown is a FOX A-18330-B
