There was a bunch: Unity, Lorraine, Thompson, Do-Ray, KD, Stewart-Warner, CM Hall, AGA, ROXCO and a few more too, I'm sure. "The post mounted types......" What exactly do you mean? When I think of post mounted, I think of runnning board mounted "pole" type spotlight.

By "post-mount", I mean the kind that mounts thru the windshield post.

Lorraine, Thompson, and the above shown Unity are all the windshield post mounted spotlights that I can think of for now. An interesting note
about the Unity Sportlight (or "Sportlite" as it was spelled on the light itself) was Ford recommended and sold/installed by Ford dealers. However, the name Ford was not shown on the light. Yet, the Chevrolet sold/installed Unity Sportlite came with the name "Chevrolet" on it! ![]() The Unity Sportlite came in three models: Junior with 5 & 1/2 inch lens (The Ford recommended model), Standard with 6 inch lens and the De Luxe with 6 & 1/2 inch lens. The Lorraine was more of a high-end car spotlight usually mounted on Lincolns, Cadillacs, Duesenburgs, etc. Of the Lorraine lights that I have all have the same size lenses, but with varying degrees of chrome, nickle or painted parts. Which I guess signified different models and cost. Information on spotlights and accessory fog/driving lights of the Model-A era is almost nonexistent and with what info I do have. I have deduced from original sales ads, catalogs and pictures of the era. ![]() Bob-A ![]() |
