rumle seat rain gutter
I need some help on my 31 roadster. This A is a driver and I'm trying to fit a 28-29 rumble seat deck lid to the the 31. The two lids are the same except for the location of the latch mechanism. The rain guttering on a 28-29 is notched to except this latch mechanism and my 31is not. I need to cut the notch. Can some one please send me a picture, drawing with measurements or just the measurements, of the width and the depth of the notch.
Thank you John [email protected] |

Re: rumle seat rain gutter
Well, I can do that but have you thought about just doing it yourself? I am assuming you have the lid mocked-up in the body. Place some shims where the rubber bumpers are to allow the deck lid to sit flush with the surrounding panels. Then close the latch (turn the handle) until it touches the gutter. Either crawl in and mark it with a Sharpie felt tip pen, or use a piece of tape and allow the latch to make an impression into the tape. Then raise the lid and lower it onto the upper panel in the closed position and note where it is fully closed. Then transfer that reference line onto the tape below and you have the dimensions you need to cut the slot.

Re: rumle seat rain gutter
If you were closer I would trade you a 30-31 for your 28-29 !

Re: rumle seat rain gutter
Roadster 62 -
He's putting a '28-'29 deck lid on his '30-'31 body... the strike for the rumble latch is up on the body, not down on the gutter, like '30-'31. The latch, handle, everything is closer to the edge of the deck lid on the '28-'29. Discovered this by accident a few weeks ago, trying to make previous owner's fiberglass rumble lid work on my '28... he had the latch in the '30-'31 location, and the strike up on the body where it belonged... took me quite a while to figure-out what the heck was going-on... |
