Hi all,
I know this should probably go in the Late V8 section, but I figured you guys would know: Is the VIN for the '54 Mercury stamped anywhere on the frame? I have a Sun Valley that's missing the data plate, and would like to be able to check the numbers off the title. I checked the usual Ford spot, close to the steering boc on the top of the frame's c-channel, but didn't see anything. If anyone can think of other areas to look, I'd appreciate it. I checked the manual and they don't mention anything other than the Data plate in the door jamb, which is gone now. Thanks, Nick |

On the later cars 49-53 you will find the VIN on the right side crossbrace that runs from the right frame rail towaerds the radiator.

On my 54 Ford, the VIN is on the top of the right side frame rail just aft of the front suspension.
Once you get the number, you can get replacenent VIN plate. |
