I have not had one rebuilt - yet...

But, I know a gentleman who owns a bunch of A's (and a museum devoted to them) and is very knowledgeable about the hobby - we had the opportunity to discuss 'ANTIQUE ENGINE REBUILDING' out of Skokie, IL. He told me that AER has forgotten more than most know about rebuilding the engines correctly. And they have a discount arrangement with a couple of shippers - http://antiqueenginerebuilding.addr.com/shipping.htm

I have no affiliation with them, but I do have a great deal of respect for the gentleman who praised them.

FWIW

No disrespect intended to anyone who does rebuilding - simply passing along one man's opinion.

I purchased one from Skokie one year and 3000 miles ago and I am thrilled with its perforrmance and such.
I DID get the hi compression head, touring cam, balanced flywheel and whatever on my standard rear end cabriolet, and find myself humming on the parkways at 65 before I see the speedo and back down for safety.
Fifty-five and sixty are smooth and easy to reach.
It LOVES hills with the head.
