Brendan, it's not a difficult job to remove that windshield. I can't believe it would be any more difficult than removing the windshield from a '35/'36 passenger car and I can do those in less than an hour. I'm not sure your '36 pu would have the same parts to remove as a '35/'36 car but here is what i had to remove to get the WS out of my '35 fordor sedan.
Remove the rear view mirror, the WS garnish molding, and the header panel. Crank the ws all the way open and remove two screws holding the crank out hinge to the WS frame. Find a couple helpers to hold on to the sides of the WS while you remove the four screws holding the WS arms to the hinges. Have your helpers lift the WS up and off the cab. Install your new gasket and reinstall the WS using the above procedure in reverse. You will have to do some alignment and adjustment where the arms fasten to the hinges to get the WS frame back in its original position. That's it. You can do it!!

For me the issue is rusty screws. Use penetrating oil such as Kroils and let things set. Butchering a screw head is not a fun game to recover from.
