What is that mounted on the bumper behind the fender? Aftermarket?
![]() Here is the link: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Ford-...item19cbc2bca4 In his video the guy claims the early 28s had a tab on the radiator to hold the hood. Is this correct? Last edited by mrtexas; 12-11-2011 at 07:02 PM. |

Those fender guards were made by APCO. I have the special hardware for them, but not the larger pieces.
I'm not sure I understand the bail wire and filler tube comment, but the power house generator and metal conduit are early features that appear to go along with some of the other early features on this car. |

Nice photos of the 1928 AR Phaeton! I noticed that it has an "under the floor" back seat storage compartment for the side curtains. Our May 1930 Phaeton only has the "under front seat storage compartment" for side curtains. I like the idea of not having to remove the front seat cushion to get to the side curtains. Please tell me, what year and month did they discontinue the "under the floor" back seat storage compartment?

I believe the rear floorboard side curtain storage was changed in early 1929. I have seen a late January 1929 phaeton with a rear floorboard side curtain tray. I suspect, like most other things Ford changed, they used up what they had before changing to the new part or way, in this case switching to under the front seat. If I had to guess, I would estimate that the rear storage probably was used on some 1929 phaetons until March or April. After that no phaetons had a rear storage tray.

Back to the car, I noticed that this one does not have the "rests" for the folded down top to lay on. Was this a later feature or are these ones missing? As well, it appears to me that it has the teacup fender on one side, and a regular 29 style fender on the other. This would tell me that it was produced after June of 28. Am I mistaken?

Jim,
I looked close at the fenders, they look OK, but there are other things. |
