Re: power valve
Vintage Speed Charlie Price in Florida. He machines them to fit properly. I can get a standare Holley Power Valve to work but it takes some modifications to the float bowl to clear the brass end on the power valve. You also need to pay attention to the gasket and how it seals on the base so it does not leak.

While late-style Holley power valves (center) will fit a 94, they don't seal properly. on the left is the correct style. often confused with a power valve is a spark control valve that goes on the outside of some carburetors used with load-o-Matic distributors. I just went through this and ordered the correct one from Ken Ct. (look for a similiar thread a few days ago) Real prompt and friendly service. I ran the incorrect one in the middle for years and have always had carb problems. Then a vintage Ford supplier has the wrong ones in their kit marked for '49-53. Careful of the accelerator pump, as the pump rods in some kits are the incorrect length. Word to the wise, deal with those who know. Like the old saying - 'If you want clean fresh hay, you gots to pay the price, otherwise...

Re: power valve
cdan and everyone,
Examine the power valve in the middle and take careful note of the MACHINED gasket face. The typical PV is not machined on the gasket face and thus may or may not seal. The machined face allows the proper gasket to be used ,.560 ID x .750 OD X .040 . The machining allows the gasket to center itself and allow proper flow of fuel when you stomp 'er down. As Jack mentioned CARQUEST has the small headed PV's. 6.5 "hg Carquest # FM-728D 5.5 "hg " # FM-728G A side note here....the Holley PV's which do require a flycut into the bowl test absolutely on the money in "hg as advertised while the Carquest PV's are within an ,shall we say, acceptable, range. FYI I do this machining if anyone is interested. Charlie ny |
