Ok now I am having issues with the throttle on a model B zenith. The screws are out of the butterfly but the shaft will not rotate to an open position. I can't drive the shaft out unless I get the butterfly out. Soaked it in penetrating oil. Applied heat and still nothing. I have also tried rapping the shaft with a punch thinking it would break it loose. Should I thy more heat?

I would let it soak with Kroil and try to move the throttle lever and plate at the same time. Light tapping, soaking, heat, and gentle turning should get it to move. Once it moves a little, then you're home free.

Frequently you can start things loosening with axial/endwise movement of the shaft. if thoroughly stuck you can't start with rotational force or everything will just twist.
Usually you can get a bit of endways motion and work back and forth with lots of solvent. |

ive just opened at least 50 shocks
i have freed every one of them using electrolysis over night and if the shaft was still stuck,a little heat was applied to the carb body and they all came out with no forcing, not one was damaged tom |

I will try the rust remover tonight. Nothing else seems to do a thing.

I have a bucket of evapo-rust. Soaked it overnight. That and some move it or break it preassure on the shaft got it moving. Bent up the butterfly though.
