Default looks like crap

Just install dads hood on his Tudor 30 having a hard time with the gaps, added shims in the rear to close the bottom but the problem we are having is the gap at top, the drivers side is too tight and the passenger side is a finger wide gap looks like the hood needs to move at the front about a 1\8 inch only thing i can think of is to shim the bottom radiator any ideas thanks AL

Allen , The frame may have a sag at the motor mount. My car also had a bend sideways at the same place , probably due to being hit sometime in the past .Bubby Sharp in KY

Allen, I'm having the same problems myself. I've shimmed up the front body mount, adjusted the radiator support rods and even widened the bolt holes on the shell. I'm thinking it's the frame it'self.

Allen: There is a very good method of aligning hood/body etc on Marco's site.

This goes WAY deeper than adding shims. First one needs to determine whether we are working with an original hood, an original radiator, original thickness lacing, original thickness radiator pads, original thickness body blocks & pads, ...and as someone mentioned, a frame within specs.

Also, is the body in alignment with the frame? Often times if the gaps are off from side-to-side, it is because the body is not aligned with the frame. We just had a Tudor in a few months ago where the holes in the front crossmember were elongated nearly to the point where the radiator shell was almost touching the horn. While it wasn't THAT bad, they had trimmed the hood shelf to gain additional shell clearance. Use a laser level and shoot from the radiator back to the rear of the car and take measurements. Then let us know what you find.

Thanks for the reply Brent , This has been a frame off new pads and mounts for the radiator, the body was shim to fit the doors the door shut perfect the line are right on, However to answer the first part I'm sure the hood and radiator are not the original the lacing is new, we squared the frame before assembly it was off maybe a 32 not much, will use the laser and let you know once again thanks for the input
