Default Engine Restorer in Wisconsin

On the list of restorers I do not see the business that restored our engine for our award winning 1928 "FINE" point 492 Model A. For those close enough you might want to check him out.

Those are great prices. Too bad their's no one of note in the NW. Again, freight is a killer.

Peter, please allow me to play Devil's Advocate for just a moment. If you don't mind m asking, what makes those prices great? While I am not disputing that they aren't, how many miles does "492AWinner" engine have on it to prove itself? Maybe some others here can share their experiences with MetalCrafters too. Again, I am not saying anything derogatory towards this company or "492AWinner" but in this day & time, I am very cautious for whom I give endorsements for unless I have personally experienced a lengthy track-record that I feel substantiates their abilities. Too much money, time, & heartache for a car owner who must go through the motions of removing/replacing an engine because it failed prematurely.

Bill has rebuilt my engine, and many others. He is in the NW. He did a great job on mine!

You are correct A492 has less than 100 miles on it and it will probably stay that way forever. NO lengthy track-record! However, we did have an engine restored by an engine guy that never made it on the car. Lessons to learn.

OOPS opened mouth inserted foot. The engine that was restored by a guy in Texas and didn't work had to be restored by MetalCrafters to WORK. So it is on the car.

I personally have had a great experience with Joe at MetalCrafters. He rebuilt the short block in my Tudor a couple of trouble free years ago. Also many other members in our club including my fathers and my brothers engines were done at MetalCrafters. I would recomend them to anyone.

Joe Thorn has rebuilt 3 engines for me and i now have 2,400 miles on my driver with only a small problem which i discussed on this board last year of a a temp rear main leak which only lasted for about a hundred miles. Joe drove over a 100 miles just to look at the rear main which did not have anything wrong with it. I have put 1600 miles on it since then without any leakage. Joe has been very responsive to any problems that other members here in the North Woods of Wisconsin (the last wilderness) have had with had his rebuilt engines. Driving many miles to the members house to evaluate the problem and most problems are the customers. he always takes care of any problem and he will not get into whoses fault is it contest, he just wants you to be happy. We have members that have many thousands of trouble free miles on his engines. Joe will listen to you and is willing to try new things, he is not like another rebuilder I worked who knew it all and wasn't willing to listen or to discuss how the work was to be done. I know I am partial Joe but we work very well together.
