Default Kirker Perfect Prime

I know Nudding! So I'm here for opinions. I pretty much settled on Kirker Perfect Prime. The cost is low ($58 @ gallon plus activator, $26) Anybody use this 2k primer? What do you think of it? Somebody must, Cause this is where I got the name from. From what I hear, Kirker is a old name and they once supplied paints to a auto/truck Mfr. Their paint is supposed go on easy and look good forever (Gee aren't they all?) I'm mainly concerned with priming the car and having the actual paint applied by someone else. So I'm concerned with compatibility issues. Am I limited to using kirker paint over the primer or can I use just about anything?

Petes Ponies uses it and swears by it. Likely got the brand name from him in one of his posts. I believe he uses a different or several different topcoat brands.

Kirker has been around for a long long time. Actually I think it has been around longer than Ford has. Being real honest with you, I think it fills a niche market for the lower end repair shops where the technology is probably a little dated and the ingredients are probably a little lower quality. Maybe a great analogy would be the difference between food at Krystal Burgers vs. Hardees. Both serve hamburgers, and many people eat at both places, but the quality is generally thought of to be a little higher at the Hardees although to some, after a day or two it really doesn't matter.

I supose quality of paint is important if your car is going to spend a lot of time outdoors in all kinds of weather, but most collector cars are only outdoors a few days a month, and only in nice weather. Most any kind of auto paint will do if you keep it clean and waxed. I painted some of my cars 40 years ago with nitrocellulouse lacquer and they still look great.
