Default Engine weight?

I may be traveling to pick up seven model A engines in my pickup. I need to know the approximate weight of a short blocks and a long block. I'm sure there are more experienced fellow out there that can give me this information.

Before I take off there will likely be guys from my club to set me straight but I would like to know before hand if I should tag my trailer along.

Default Re: Engine weight?

i can pick up a complete "b" minus the flywheel
guessing about 200lbs
flywheels 60 lbs
head about 20
block about 100
everything except the flywheel is a guess

I thought I read somewhere the engine weighed 450 lbs. Don't know if that includes the tranny but I think it is a long block.

Flywheel=62.5 lbs
Engine complete with clutch and transmission=473 lbs

This is from" Ford Model "A" Passenger Car and "AA" Truck Engine and Chassis Manual".

This is a great little book. Mine is about worn out. I hope they have it in big print now.

Do not get me started on the stupidity of ethanol. I think one of the monitors is from Iowa and he will delete the thread.
