Would anyone know if there is more than one supplier or I should say manufacturer of the metal cover for transmission that attaches to the #2 wood floorboard, well # 1 also.I bought one last winter and just this week went to install and is a poor fit around both brake lever and the trans tower. I ordered the one for original 1932 transmission not one of the others for later trans in a '32. So far I have ground out 1/4"-3/8" and it still is hung up on tower. Cost about $125. so I don't want to spend that again but would if someone made a better fit.

Sounds like the reproduction cover is the last of four LHD passenger car versions that existed during the course of the '32 model year and that your shift lever housing is either the first or second version of that component.
The shift tower of the first two housings was round on all but the left side whereas the tower was flattened on the right side on the third version. I am guessing that the material that you have removed from the reproduction cover was there to be used with the shift towers with the flat right side whereas your shift tower is round on the right side. All of the above is spelled out on page 11-16 and shown in the illustrations and photos on page 11-18 of the V8 Club 1932 book. I do not believe that a reproduction sheet metal cover for the round tower shift lever housing was ever made, so your having to remove part of it was your only realistic alternative. Yes,that clears it up, I shouldn't have assumed that shift tower or even transmission was original to the car which is a June or July build by serial #. Tower is round on right side square or flattened on left side.I will grind away. Everyday something new is learned. In my copy of the '32 book page 15-18 shows the cover I have on right but tower hole looks like middle one now after opening it up. Emergency brake lever slot still needs elongated to the front to allow lever to release. Thanks David .

There's another variable that might explain the need to enlarge the opening in the cover for the hand brake and that is that you have the earliest version of the shift lever housing. Please see the photo on page 5-27 and you will observe that the two bolts attaching the hand brake to the shift lever housing are not on the same plane, but rather the rear attachment is higher than the front attachment. I believe that would require a larger opening in the cover.
It's a long shot as the shift lever assemblies with uneven hand brake attachment holes are extremely rare. |

Yes,thank you Phantom. I have already made mine fit the tower,it looked like the late '32 one top right and now looks like top middle. Fits good now. I have bought so many parts this last year I don't remember where I bought mine but I didn't know at the time which to order just said I wanted original Model B.Thanks again for providing these as you obviously are the supplier to Carillio maybe ?
