Rose is my 1931 fordoor slant window. about a week ago the spring on the driver's side door latch broke. I have the inside panel off and all the screws holding the latch and handle in place are off. Now I can't figure out how to get the latch out. I have searched the net looking at videos but can't find any that show how to remove the latch from the door. Does anyone know of a video or written instructions on how to progress?
Any help is appreciated. |

Are u sure u got all the screws out? There are two on the door jamb. Also the remote has t come out (where the interior handle mounts)
All that said, it should come out. Is the glass in the way? Should have enough room if glass all way up. It’s pretty cramped and close in the door. |

I think I have all the screws. 2 on the door jamb. 1 on the latch and 3 on the inside door handle. Both outside and inside door handles are off. The window is all the way up. I used a wire coat hanger to support the metals strip between the latch and the inside door handle. Had hoped it was just pull up out of the door. Will keep working at it. Thank you for the help.

I am unable to post my pictures even though I have a Straight Window Blindback but thought they would be of some use.
Do you have a FULL panel going from front to back after removing the interior? If so THAT would have to come off before you can get to the door mechanism which is under THAT large panel! Hope that helps some and hopefully SOMEDAY I will learn to post pictures here !

If I remember correctly, you have to remove the window riser to get the latch out. You don't have to remove it completely, just pull the screws and move the riser to the outer door skin to make room for the latch to come out.

Outside door handle is off. I was afraid the answer was going to be removing the glass. Now I'm looking videos on how to do that. Thanks for everyone's help.

You don't have to remove the glass. I think you just have to remove the screws to the winder assembly and push/prop it out of the way. The latch assembly should be able to get wiggled out around it. Words of "praise " may be said but it can be done.

Thank you for that tid-bit. I have already used some words on this. Of all the things I have done for Rose (starter, distributor, carb., water pump, head gasket, etc.), this has turned out to be the most interesting. Will let you know how it turns out after we get a break from this 111 degree heat index.
