When they talk about a electronic cutout for the generator are they referring to a cutout with a diode in it.

Yes.
It could also mean a Fun Projects regulator which was made in a lookalike cutout housing. |

One would have to know the difference between a Fun Projects cut-out or a regulator - John had a "tattle-tale" on the bottom of both - they appeared identical.

Or are you talking about an electronic voltage regulator in the generator?? Not cut out which you can put a diode in?

Cutout is the can that screws to the outside if the generator. Don't think FP offered a diode type.
