Default Mounting Striker Plates on late 1931 Slant Windshield Cabriolet

These striker plates are held in place with two wood screws. I need to get the plate accurately placed so that the doors close nicely. All the rubber bumpers are in place. I can see where the striker plate has to be in the vertical direction, but it is difficult to see where the plate should be placed horizontally for the latch to engage the inner stop. From what I can see, the striker plate will be placed right to the edge of the sheet metal cap on the door jam. I saw the latch just get over the stop after I pushed the door closed very firmly against the rubber bumpers. I have the striker plate held in position with masking tape.

My question is "where is the edge of your striker plate located with respect to the corner of the sheet metal door jam cap? Obviously the striker plate cannot hang over the sheet metal it is mounted on. Thank you for any comments, Ed
