Looking to purchase a replacement 1940 Deluxe Grille for my Fordor, as the grille I have now is too pitted and the chrome worn down that it'd cost way, way more to get it rechromed (which is no guarantee it'll even clean up). So, going for a repro grille.
There are three grilles that I see for sale... at dramatically different prices. Bob Drake is the most expensive at around $1,330. Next, there is Dennis Carpenter's grille, which is around the $800 range. Finally, there's the Speedway Motors grille that is around $625 range. I'm not even bothering with the Vintique ones. Searching through posts on here, most people would say 'go Drake' for the best fit, although apparently his grilles are now made overseas as well, unless you can find one of the ones sold in the older brown boxes (I haven't seen any). I've seen some posts say that the Speedway grilles have been great fits. At about half the price of Drake's grille, is there really that much of a better quality with Drake, especially if also now made overseas, to differentiate that? And I know it's been a few months since the last 1940 Ford battery 3D print update, I've had to put it on hold for a long while due to life, but it's still on the back burner and about 75% finished! I hope to jump back in in a few weeks.
