Default direct acting shock absorber

search gave me nothing.

Q: when did shock absorbers become commonplace?

i found a patent application for FP Becker 1935-37

https://patents.google.com/patent/US2078364A/en

but didn't know if they had been used before.

just like a specialized tool, the Phillips screwdriver, i can remember the elders of the tribe referring to "aircraft shocks" as a magical piece of marvel which would revolutionize any piece of equipment it adorned.

thanks, sid
