A couple of weeks ago I started a thread about hood droop and hood springs. I have since gotten a pair from Bob Drake. I have added some pictures of the droop my '46 convertible has along with the existing springs and dimensions of the new springs.
They look capable. The tag on the springs showed they are USA made. The car is going into a local shop next week that does hot rod work and currently has a '41 coupe on the floor with new hood springs installed. I'm going to let them do the replacement along with some unrelated work. I installed new hood springs in a '41 Cad I had years ago. All four. It taught me patience and humility. Never again. tony |

Got the new Drake springs installed. Hood goes up and stays up about an eigth of an inch from the cowl.
Worth the money and effort. tony |

The hood on my '41 Merc stayed up fine until I lubed the hinges!
