1940 Ford Deluxe Hood Latch

Anyone change the hood latch handle on a 40 Deluxe. Looks like I have to remove the hood to change the handle. My Body does not workupside down and backwards anymore.

I have. Did not have to remove the hood. Just the center trim on the hood

To replace the handle, you will need to remove the ornament. The handle is attached to the ornament with a rivet of sorts.
The "rivet" is easy enough to remove.

slowforty, i just installed a orig. re chromed restored hood handle on my '37. i thought like you my old body with degenerative arthritis doesn't bend that way. heres what i did i happend to have one of those 5-6" mirrors i got at drug store or walmart that has a metal 2 piece stad built at a pivot. set on top of raditor at cap area and pointed at underside of hood set magnetic light focused at area. took some time upside down and backwards view but its a two man job removing hood and prob. scratching!!. Tom.
