cowl band

looking for a cowl band, for a january 30 155-D briggs town sedan.
anyone have, or making them new ?

Reproduction cowl bands do NOT fit worth a flip. If you are going to use one, you must do the fit-work prior to painting. Because of this, we are restoring original cowl bands which is very laborious however much faster in time than fitting a new repro band.

the new repro bands are currently off the market. There were two companies making these in the past. One went bankrupt about 1 1/2 years ago, and the other is retooling to make a nicer and better fitting product. The company retooling is not giving any idea when they will be back on the market.

Is the Briggs a different length? I know many are the same and a few are about 1/2” longer per side. I have restored regulars..... restored by Doug Bruce (the best)

Bill, Clark needs the early 30 with the extra length. I suggested he check with Steve Becker.

Yes, Doug was the master, ...and unfortunately, all his knowledge left this earth when he passed.

It has been a few years since I got on here and a lot has happened since then.
Starting with I have had some serious health issues. I got COVID really bad with large blood clots in my lungs, clots in my arms and legs and a really bad one that I thank God for saving me, a pulmonary saddle embolism that my Dr. said normally the next step would be the morgue. I also have a wound in my leg that started out as an infection and wound care has been treating since Nov. 2020. I have had surgery to close it, hyperbaric treatments which caused cataracts and I had to have surgery on it as well along with I am currently on my 6th PICC line for infections on it.

With all that I am still kicking and working on getting the shop up and running but on a more limited basis.

One of the first parts I should have on the shelf will be the Polished Stainless Cowl Bands. I will also have them in non polished if you want to do it yourself and plain steel.
I will also have most of the die stamped steel patch panels available along the Ford script ignition coils and with the bed wood for the Model T and Model A's.


I will let you all know when I have my inventory again and would appreciate it very much if you would still consider AHOOGA A & T for your patch panels and other parts.

It's been years since I mess with a cowl band. I have a chance to take a nice one off a 30 coupe and can't remember how to take it off without messing it up.
Any advice would be appreciated.

Hello I remember the repro cowl band a friend of mine tried fitting, gave up on it and bought a repaired original . It was too short and didn’t fit around the curve of the gas tank .

Tom - I presume the cowl band on a coupe attaches the same way as a sedan. One nut each side that goes to a stud that protrudes down from the cowl band at an angle through the bottom of the cowl assembly. You get to it with a socket. You then just tease the band off.

I have one in my shop off of a 1930 Coupe. It does NOT have the clips at the bottom that secure it to the body. It's a nice original but not perfect
