Lacking any input from anyone else... The glovebox is a slip fit over the flange on the original dash. If you dash is original you can extrapolate the cross section, the slots and hole for the hinge and latch ball are somewhat self explanatory. With a stock dash you should be able to have what you need with just a depth measurement.

There's and early version and a late version, but the difference is all in the number and location of the attachments to the dash which has the same early/late attachment variations.
And then there is the support tab on the top of the very back of the box that attaches to a lip underneath the front of the cowl before the firewall is installed. It is easy to forget it until it is too late to make the attachment without a lot of extra effort. I should be able to post dimensions of the box tomorrow. |

Tom,
Yes, please, go ahead and measure yours as I am not 100% certain that I will get to my indoor junkyard this weekend. Thanks. |

The back of the box measures 3 & 1/2 inches high X 5 & 3/4 inches wide The front measures 6 & 5/8ths X 4 inches at the center for each measurement The length of the top is 10 & 5/8ths inches at the center The length of the bottom is 11 & 5/16ths inches at the center The length of each side is 11 inches at the center The left side is 3 & 1/2 inches high at the back and 4 & 1/2 at the front The right side is 3 & 1/2 inches at the back and 3 inches at the front. Does this sound confusing? That's because the back of the "box" is a true rectangle with straight sides and right angle corners, the front is not square and not rectangular, it has round corners and unequal length sides. Hope pictures will help. Yup the hardware is not correct, just there to hold it together, have to glue in the lining, then rivet it. The picture in the OP is a Brookville reproduction. The back panel of the reproduction is better executed, but spot welded not riveted, the corners are round whereas an original has square corners. The 4 sides of the Brookville are better formed because they follow the shape of the back panel, but the seam is welded not riveted as original. One last comment, yes my firewall and body are bolted down on the frame AND the glove box is free range at present. Last edited by BoxCar Tom; 08-03-2024 at 10:43 AM. |

Tom,
Thanks for posting the measurements of your early/mid-year glove box. The late version differs only in the attachment to the dash as it has five cage nuts compared to two cage nuts on the front perimeter of the early/mid-year version. |

David,
My 3W is a late production car, sn 18 2008XX. Many of the production details related to this car are lost forever. However, an odd mix of production details did survive, it has single finger pull hood hooks, two piece sun visor brackets and eleven screw rear window garnish molding. The early/mid-year version glove box was included in a parts deal with Berj in the early 70's at Hershey. The deal included a perfect 3W dashboard, glove box door, the glove box, cigar lighter, ashtray and five garnish moldings. Cost $600.00 which is more that what I paid for the entire car just seven years earlier. |
