We have talked here about the "grooves" in the rear deck. The best info seems to be the "Model A as Henry Built It" by DeAngelis/Francis/Henry. While I don't doubt the authors (and commended DeAngelis on the basis of the rest of his work) we have but a small 4" square sketch of the setup. The "other" pickup book does describe some on the preparation (ends) of the metal strips which are not "cut square" as many are wont to do.
I have surmised at length about the 82A doors: their origins with the Model T, any differences (and there seem to be some) and their applicability/adaptation to other Model A body styles. Even the hinges have been discussed. The 28-29 Station Wagon 150A shares the cowl nose of course. As does the 79A "Panel Delivery." And I've seen differences in the trim-door surround between the 26-27 Model T and the 82A truck. And I've spoken about the "informational threshold" that exists between the Henry Ford Museum Microfiche, the MAFFI database, and "users" of that information. And the "how if we only knew" continues as a restoration hurdle. Someone COULD encounter that threshold and write it up as book entry. A "how to" guide and your experience? A good place to start would be the 82A doors. Obviously they existed in "variants" and one expects that each drawing revision would cite the previous version - these could be examined for "details" - such as that pesky window crank landing spot. A little bit of wishful thinking here. Obviously there is time and cost associated with all of this. And what of the Howells (Texas) "reproduction" 82A door - where did that/they end up? They were available in the '90s - for a while. Snyders still shows the picture on their website. (Discontinued in red lettering) ![]() Good luck, Joe K

Well, they're still doing the cab-backs and corners.
The report I had at the time was that a set of dies had surfaced in South America and Howells (or someone) was producing the door. At that time you could buy from Howell the entire 82A cab - not cheap and like most of these things there was a waiting period. It may have been produced elsewhere. I've told my experience here actually being in Texas and going to Howells store around 2015 and finding the moribund state of Howell affairs then. Reports are they haven't improved, but know I not the state of the reproduction art. Or their market approach. But I digress literally. Perhaps others know more of the situation? It's been 10 years? Time flies when you're having fun! Joe K

Howell's produces poor quality sheetmetal items, at least the few I purchased, before I swore them off. I had heard that Howell's made decent parts when they were first in business, but someone took it over some time ago and cheapened the items they sell. Most are NOT die stamped like all or most Brookville Roadster parts. I would advised people to stay away from them.

Do a search with Keyword "Howells" and originator "Joe K" and come to the previous discussion 2nd from the bottom of the list. I query a 82A door should it exist - but I wouldn't necessarily recommend Howells as a source if it does. Boarded up storefronts generally have some sort of question associated with them. It's been a while. I hope they have resolved their issues. Joe K
