Default 1936 Club Cab Maintenance

My grandson wants my car if something were to happen to me. What would be any maintenance items that I could to stockpile as I know a lot of parts are getting hard to find. I already have dist. caps, rotors and points, spark plugs, condensers, brake shoes and related hardware, light bulbs, carburetor and fuel pump.

I would add a pair of good water pumps and an ignition coil to the list.

Give it to him as soon as he can drive. If that is now, then you can help him learn as he learns to love it.

When I work on the car he wants to be right there beside me to learn. I am glad he wants to keep it original and not make it into a resto mod

If It were me, I would also get one extra distributor. THEN I would box up your water pumps, coil and distributor and send them all to Skip Haney and have him redo them ALL.....that way you know you have good quality parts ready to roll at a moments notice. its great insurance....ALSO I would make your grandson aware of the likes of Skip, CharlieNY (fuel pumps, carburetors and distributors), Michael at Third Gen Automotive (Parts and distributor rebuilding) so he knows the "go to" sources to keep your 36 on the road and running fine. ALSO maybe make a list of the above and the likes of Fred at Southside Obsolete, All Ford Parts, Uncle Max, Steve Blanchard (Generators) and I am sure I am missing a few more, all here on the Barn so he has a full compliment of help sources as well as get him set up on the FordBarn and hopefully The Early Ford V8 Club membership.

You can sign him up now for a free one-year digital membership as a way of introducing him to the Early Ford V-8 Club. This offer works for anyone who hasn't been a member or a past member who hasn't been a member for over three years.

You may also want to write down the names of all of the oils and greases and give your grandson a lubrication chart and schedule.
