Default Mismatched Hinges/Trunk Deck Gap

Good morning, friends,

1941 Ford Super Deluxe Fordor

I have a gap in the trunk lid/deck on the upper left corner and it appears to be caused by a hinge that doesn't match the other, both by visual inspection and measurements. What should I do? Modify the hinge? Buy new hinges? Thanks!

Bondo, Only Kidding

Back the car into a hard object, Only Kidding

Wear Sun Glasses, Only Kidding,

Put an ESSO Tony the Tiger Tail there, Only Kidding

Seriously, take both hinges off the car, identify the differences, modify accordingly (nothing to loose), go slow, small adjustments seem to have big effect. Also look at how - where the hinges are attached, any differences? If modification/adjustment doesn't work, look for a replacement hinge.

Back in December I installed a NOS deck lid in my coupe, perfect (tight) gaps. Opened it last week, rubbing in two spots (paint loss), 40 degree temp change to blame. Good luck,

It looks like the hinge on the right has a tear in the metal . It could be your gap .
Ive got a few tudors I’ll take photos of . I have a 46 that has very similar hinges , I’m not sure they interchange but if they dont that could be your gap . I’ll take photos of the 46 also .

Yeah, it looks like cracks in both hinges. I think spacers between the body and the hinge should make the lid sit closer to the body. Basically spacing the pivot point closer to the center of the car.
