After re-installing the convertible frame mechanism, one side is hitting the interior trim cover; that covers the rear seating area. This is only hitting on one side.
I'm using new cylinders, new springs, and a new pump. There isn't any air in the system. How can I adjust this frame mechansim so it doesn't hit please? I have attached two photos showing this hitting. This is for a 1948 Mercury Convertible. Thank you for any help |

I I have a '40 and there are slotted holes in the two side brackets attached to the front wood header. Take a look and see if you can slide the top side piece toward the front wood header.

I doubt adjusting the header mounting will help, as the header is to the back of the cockpit. For reference here is a copy of the original parts book top iron page.

There is an iron plate that the top pivits off of and that is where you should be able to make an adjustment.

flathead48, I'm too new to send you a PM.
Would you by chance have any pictures of how the two rear bows mount?? One is metal and the other is wood with metal arms. I'm pretty sure the wooden one is the rear bow, but not sure where it mounts to the side arms?? I've bought several manuals but none show the bows!!! Any help appreciated!!! |

Hey flathead48, thanks for the pics, I think I had the wooden bow upside down and mounted in the wrong holes??? Kinda figured how the metal bow with the angle fits but it looks high and the holes across the top seem angled!!! Never buy a car in a box!!!
Thanks again!!! ![]() ![]() ![]() |
