1950 Ford Convertible Overdrive Cable and Lever

Hi !!! I have a 1950 Ford Convertible Stock V8 with Stock Overdrive. Does someone have pictures or a diagram of how the overdrive cable and lever is set up ? I’ve tried different ways to make the cable work …..The Cable housing slides over the wire ……I need some assistance on how to make this assembly work without crushing the housing ….And which direction does the Overdrive Lever point ??? Any help with pictures , illustrations of hardware would be very very helpful Thank You all very much !!!! This Car has the X. Frame . I don’t know for sure if that makes a difference…. Thank You !!!
