Default Flushing Block and Head - Tips and Tricks

I have a 1933 Model B (46) 4 cyl. pickup and removed the head to replace the head gasket. The engine has been running and must have been rebuilt at some point, maybe 30-40 years ago. Lots of rust and some crud, though, in the block and head. Some loose. Any thoughts on DIY cleaning methods? Thanks in advance.

I use a parts grabber… small magnet that’s on the end of a telescoping rod. It’s a craftsman tool I bought many years ago. Some people use a section of old flex cable (like the throttle cable on an old lawn mower) and chuck it in a drill to work down into the water passages to knock things loose. Spend maybe an hour minimum per side pulling out the the chunks and crap. And then blow the passages out with compressed air (wear safety glasses). Get as much as possible, so keep working at it.

I'm a big fan of this company's products. This product works really well.

After mechanically cleaning, I will do three flushes with Evaporust (or equivalent) letting each sit at least 24 hours.
