The gauge at the dash is working. I can blow dry air in the disconnected line at the sending unit and the red liquid will rise. Put my thump over the end and the liquid will stay. Lift my thumb and it goes down. I've got the tank sending unit out and for 90 years it looks pretty good. There is a small hole at the bottom of the chamber where the air line goes into and it is not plug. What should i look for. thanks

Please forgive me if you already know this, but you need to drive the vehicle to get the gauge to read correctly. The fuel sloshing around will create pressure in the airline which will push the red liquid in the gauge, up the sight glass.

Are the two lines that end underneath the chamber free of obstruction?

I got it working. I removed the sender, cleaned it and made sure all the orifices were open. I make a test stand where i filled a bottle with about 4" deep of gas. Put the sender in and gauge show about 3/4 full so I removed a little of the red fluid and now the gauge reads about 1/2 full. May remove a little more tomorrow as I do not want it to over run. Right now it's sitting in the stand. Going to see if it holds same reading over night. Thanks everyone for your help. I think these little gauges are the neatest thing ford ever came up with, ie when they are working.

The calibration for the fluid level is to disconnect the line at the gauge and fill red fluid to the Zero or Empty mark.
