Unhappy Dash Light for '29 Model A

Guys/Gals:
Trying to find the dash light for my '29 A. all the normal suppliers seem to have it out of stock with no ETA on when they will get back in stock. Attached is the link to one of the vendors on what I am looking for.

Member “rackops” is developing a protocol to restore them, I bet he’ll have some available in the next few months.

Seems to me I recall that even if the dash lights for 28-29 are available, they are replacement type and not quite like the originals. Something about the replacement caps not fitting original sockets? I've got an original socket but without the cap so I'll be looking for an original cap come swap meet season. Am I remembering this clearly or not getting good information?

For the most part, this is correct. I have very few (about 12) caps and a bunch (about 40) bases. Some caps fit some bases and don't fit in other bases. I'm sure some of them are reproductions, but I also think there are variations between original pieces as well. My rule of thumb after restoring them is "if the cap fits, it fits"

I have my first couple of restored lights ready to go, but they're spoken for. I'm waiting on some parts to arrive in order to keep making the electrical fittings, but our recent (current) snowfall has delayed their arrival. I'm also waiting on new springs for the light housing, and those should be here in a couple of weeks (coming from Australia).

Here are some photos of one I recently finished. It is heading to Australia shortly.
