Default Academy of Art auto collection auction in SF

The Academy of Art auto collection is being auctioned in SF on February 15, over 100 spectacular cars, all at no reserve including a number of beautiful pre-war Fords (plus quite a few coach-built 30's beauties if you happen to have half a million bucks burning a hole in your pocket). The collection can be viewed Feb 13 and 14 for $10, it is usually closed to the public-I saw it a few years ago and it is well worth it. The Academy of Art, as I understand it, at one time was one of the largest landowners in the City. My wife, who worked as a commercial illustrator, graduated from there in the '70's.

I met the "Founder" of the College and his daughter here at Amelia Island Concours one year showing the green Minerva, one heck of a nice Gentleman!!! Sadly, like most collections, once they pass...the collections don't seem to last much beyond!!

The 1934 Lincoln Convertible Roadster is QUITE dreamy as well as the 33 KB Convertible Sedan!!!

Bit optimistic on their estimates. Maybe auctions with wealthy donors will bump the bids up.

Yeah . . . I can't imagine those estimates being anywhere close to what the auction will bring (at least on many of the cars). Some really nice cars - with very nice prices!

Agreed. It seems like a great organization and I hope they do well with this auction.

I'd advise them to stay away from the paint fumes and come back down to earth regarding their estimated prices for the Ford vehicles.
