Does anyone out there in Ford Barn Land have a drawing of the correct original location of the accelerator foot rest base in a 32 ford 5w?
One of the things my daughter and husband got me for Christmas was a foot rest assembly for my 32 and I would like to install it in the correct location but cannot find anything that tells/shows me. |

Hello. I have a couple original floor boards with the original holes for the mounting of the foot rest. I would be happy to measure them for you but wont be able to until late tonight. I am sure someone will chime in before that but if not then at least you know the info will be coming your way tonight.

Any chance your floorboard already has a hole drilled for the footrest to extend through when it is lowered? With the other posts you know where to look.

The '32-'34 accelerator foot rest and cast base are carryover Model A parts. However, evidently two different version of the base. One is completely round and is not for use on a '32-'34 vehicle other than extremely early '32 V8 #1 floorboards that have no for access in the board for the clutch release bearing of the transmission on top of the bell housing. The second and common version of the base is only a bit more than half round with a straight edge. That provides clearance for the clutch release hole cover in in the #1 floorboard to be swung sideways for access to the bearing grease cup on the transmission bell housing.
Original #1 floorboards have tell tale holes for the three base attachment wood screws and the 3/8" hole in the center of the three small holes for the shank of the foot rest. Good quality '32 floorboards, such as those from Brad's wood shop in Washington state, usually come with the 3/8" hole already drilled through the #1 board. Snyder's appears to offer accurate reproductions of both the correct base and foot rest. There was no separate base for '33-'34 fours as the base was built into the steel #1 board used on four-cylinder chassis. |
