Will a 1940 car deluxe steering wheel with 3/4" spline fit a 1941 Pickup?

I am 99.9% sure the 40 wheel will fit the 41 pickup. Read this entire post, especially #23 and 24.

A true '40 passenger car wheel will fit a '41 pickup truck.

As you no doubt know, the steering wheel has a taper fit. Perhaps the "kid" that wrote the description for Carpenter is simply a kid and has no clue. Just now looked at the Carpenter ad. That isn't a spline. It'll fit your '41 pickup just fine ![]()

Thanks Kube, That is the information I needed. This is not my truck but belongs to a friend who wanted to order today to get a ten percent Cyber Monday discount. He asked me and I told him we would get an answer on the Barn. Art

The confusion is in not knowing the difference between a key and a spline.

The confusion could be that the aftermarket does make wheels with a spline for the street rod folks. I've not seen the wheel in question, but if Kube says its a go then its a done deal

I knew that the steering wheel on my 36 is keyed and also the 47 I have. Some suppliers described the 41 pickup steering wheel as fits "Big Hub" but Dennis Carpenter is the only one that has them in stock and the 3/4 spline description didn't make sense. I agree that Kube gave me the correct information, Art

Hopefully that's what they ship. Drake made wheels at one time, and they were tapered / keyed. Not quite the correct depth of taper but a good attempt anyway.

There are wheels out there with splines, but they fit GM columns. If you have a stock column you need a wheel that is tapered with a key way. If you call Carpenter you need to ask questions. On e-Bay there is a new 17" '40 wheel with taper and key fit for $300. There are also two new 16" wheels that also have the taper and key for $320, but 16 " is not stock. All these wheels are for the "40 deluxe and the pickup uses a "40 standard wheel.
