Default Fuel Injection

Completing restoration on my 1955 F-100
It has the original drivetrain, 239 OHV engine and 3 speed on the column.
I am converting to a 12 volt system and electronic ignition.
Has anyone out there tried fuel injection? Considering a Holley Sniper 2 barrel system.
Thanks

I’ve run aftermarket fuel injection, throttle body style, and currently have it on my bird. They work, and the new ones (like the Holley) are a lot better. But I don’t think it’s worth the money and the trouble on a stock 239. You’re not going to see a lot of improvement over a properly turned carb and loadomatic. I’d be looking at using a 57 up distributor (there’s some interchange work there, depending on which distributor gear your 239 has, and I’m not the expert on that) and maybe a small more modern 2 barrel. You don’t need many cfm on a stock 239. You’ll be tuning for drivability.

I ran a 'first series' Holley efi set up on an engine I built that was modified and caused the rear float bowl on a Holley dp carb to perk out. Hot Texas summer heat + under hood! It solved the problem. In general, worked ok, bit temperamental at times on the electronic controls/settings. But I am sure newer versions are much improved. If the engine is stock overall, and if it was mine... I would prefer a carburetor.

Sounds like two instances of actual experience to me.

I don't see a state or provence on your profile, so we can't get into exercising your truck...

If you change to anything but an original carburetor you'll also need to update to a '57+ distributor.
A '54 to '56 Loadomatic distributor won't do. The built-in timing advance won't work right

Thanks.
Probably going to see how it does and how long it lasts.
Hoping that the 12 volt and electronic ignition is going to help smooth it out.
Seems really hard to find good points and condensers now

What type of 'electronic ignition' are you considering?

With today's ethanol laced fuels, an EFI CONVERSION (TBI in this instance) makes a lot of sense to me, especially an electric fuel pump addition.
