Yo Fellow A's, Here is my scenario. Motor has 1500 miles timing is correct have had two different rebuilt carbs, one a B carb the other a Standard Zenith same problem. Start up in the morning head to the coffee shop 15 minutes away. restart a hour or two later with control lever down and idle lever in place just like I ran car. warm up briefly take off get to light or stop sign and she stall as if it ran out of fuel do a restart with a little trouble get going then she seems to be fine the rest of the way. do you think my Control lever placement has something to do with it? I doubt it's the carburetors fault I think it"s some kind of Pilot error. GW

Check wire inside of distributor, sometimes they loosen up and short out , I would start there first .Moving the spark control sometimes will make it short out depending on positioning.

Is the control lever the spark lever and the idle lever the throttle?
The spark lever should be up when you start the engine. |

Also spark control should be up position, retarted for starting, advance no more than about half way after starting, depending on road conditions.

What is your fuel line set up? Does the fuel line run down hill all the way to the carburetor or does it dip down and then go up to the carburetor. Weird but I've found that the Model A runs better with the fuel line sloping down all the way to the carburetor as it came from the factory.
Do you have one of the plastic in line fuel filters spliced into the gas line?

when you restart the car after an hour, both levers up and as if starting first thing in the morning.
I dont run my chainsaw an hour after using it wo resetting the choke and starting fresh as if first start of the day. |

Does the engine die at other stop signs or just a specific stop light? Stalling at stops is a common affliction of the Zenith carb.

Ensure that the gas cap vent is clear. Also ensure that you don't have a radiator cap on the gas tank's neck. The fit is interchangeable between the two, but the function is not. The gas cap MUST be vented in order for the gravity fuel feed design to function. Air has to be able to enter the gas tank via the cap's vent hole in order for the fuel to flow unhindered to the carb. Otherwise, you will experience fuel starvation, especially when the ambient temperature is hot and the engine warmed up.
