Default Hershey Haul

Anyone find any treasures and care to share?

Couldn’t make it this year so no haul pics from me.

Lot's of good parts here this year. I have found some great Model T parts. I am looking for some Model A stuff, too, but haven't bought anything, yet.

Walt and Debbie went yesterday. They could not believe how little foot traffic there was wondering the fields. maybe it builds today and tomorrow but who can tell.

We are seeing the same thing over here. There is even concern that some swap meets might not survive, let alone the vendors.

Just goes to show, perception is based on perspective. Everyone reads a response of low traffic without regard to budgets, advertised price, need and many other things.

If you’re a real seller or buyer, you tend to have positive reports. You know exactly what you’re looking for and selling. I’ve never had a bad experience at a swap meet.

Best year ever for sales, usually make a sale every 5 or 10 min. Plenty of foot traffic, repeat buyers.
Wheels and tires, headlights are not moving. Motor meters, wiring harness, headlight reflectors, empty boxes ( Ford) roadster doors are about gone. Lots of Canadian buyers. Early nos V8 parts are moving well.

I'm still at Hershey and doing well. I sold 6 restored generators, some cutouts and other odds n ends. Bought a few vintage generator related tools. Perfect weather and all kinds of treasure here. A feast for the eyes!

I had a great time, as always. I saw some really neat stuff and was able to find some things for my restoration efforts. Quite a few reproduction 3X plugs (only a couple of originals) some dash lights, and a lot of stuff from the dollar boxes that I couldn't pass up. I was also able to pick up a few Model B water pumps to send to a friend in Australia (I totally missed the RHD stuff that was apparently there...didn't see it at all).

There were several sellers who had great prices on some items, but I had to weigh carrying the items around, and had to pass. Probably the steal of the show was an early 1928 radiator shell with the woven lacing holes for $20. It was rusty and pitted but it wouldn't have been impossible to restore. I passed because I didn't want to carry it (or hoard radiator shells!)

I also kept track of the conversations I overheard and the number one conversation was the price of insurance. Second conversation topic was the number of empty spots, which typically rolled in the comments about "look around...we're old and dying off..." Third primary topic of conversation was that Wednesday was the best selling/foot traffic day as compared to Monday and Tuesday.

Overall, a great time and I'm super happy with what I picked up.

The swap meets around here (Dallas Tx area) are dwindling too. In my opinion the spaces are getting too expensive versus the amount of items that sell. If the swap meet originators do not come down on space prices so vendors are able to recoup the cost, all of the swap meets will die.

Cruize-ins too. Let's face it, some of our car collectors are dieing off.

There have been a lot of Model As brought over here from the US in recent years. Many stay LHD but many are converted to RHD. I have brought in 2 such cars and converted them both. Some RHD parts are in rather short supply and I wasn't aware that any were floating about over there so here is my request.
If anybody sees RHD components, please remember me. Especially sought after are 2 tooth steering columns, steering arms, drag link, pitman arm, brake cross shaft and pedals. Just about all of the rest of the bits are easily enough made or adapted.
