A fellow Ford friend has a 33 fire truck with the 4 cylinder engine. The engine idles fine but hesitates to rev up when he pushes the pedal. He has to push very slowly to overcome this and get the engine to rev, feels like the accelerator pump is not working. I donīt know this carb, he says it has no accelerator pump. So some of you might know this carb and a fix to get it to work a little better. Let me know - thanks!

Has the engine timing been checked? The timing will affect throttle response. The BB doesn't have the manual advance lever, does it? This could explain sluggish response.

That carburetor doesn't appear to be like anything Ford supplied for the BB engine or even anything I have ever seen on a Model B engine. What the heck is it?

I thought that this is not the correct carb. Thanks for the verification. Now my buddy would like to find the correct carb. If anyone has something on the shelf, please get in touch with me. Did Ford use different makes of carbs on this engine?
Thanks! |
