Default Identify part

On page 46 of the Sep-Oct 2024 Model A News there are detailed closeup photos of parts from an award winning Blue Ribbon car from the Asheville national meet. Can anyone identify the part shown in the photo that's second from the bottom row, middle of the page ? I don't think I've seen a part like this on any Model A.

Thank you for asking. That photo is keeping me up at night trying to figure out what it is!

I think it's a cover on the nut holding the spare tire carrier.

Found it, page 22-12 of the Judging Standards.
Upper mounting bolt crowner used late 1928-mid 1929 Coupes
and Roadsters with rear spare tire carrier and trunk.

This is an NOS original Crowner, used to cover the top mounting bolt head of the rear spare mount, making more difficult to steel the spare.

The fellow who restored that car sure did his homework pouring through the Judging Standards to find that that part was needed. Seems like it would only be useful as an anti-theft measure if you purchased the dealer option spare tire lock. I wonder if it was part of the spare tire lock kit?

I've run into one of those on the screw holding an oval speedometer together before - it took quite a bit of careful prying before I could remove the screw.
