Default Any Murray Body experts out there?

Does anyone know if any specific information can be decoded from a Murray body serial number? My new project is a Murray-bodied ‘31 Hupmobile Model L. I’m working on doing my research on the car’s serial numbers. It has the Hupp serial number tag on the firewall which I’ll be looking into but I did find what I believe to be the Murray tag on the floor sill. Do the numbers have any value in terms of identifying anything? I know it’s not a model A but information is hard to come by on these cars so I’m looking at any source I can find.

Yes, I’m working on joining the Hupmobile club. They still do things the old-fashioned way with mail-in applications so that hasn’t happened yet.

In the case of the 190A Victoria Coupe, each Murray body made was given a number. Thus Murray Body 190A29256 is believed to be the 29,256 unit made.

Thanks for the replies. The Hupp serial numbers for the body and engine are different but only consist of the L model designation followed by 8507 and 8584. Those in no way correspond with anything in the Murray tag on the sill. I would guess that they were just numbers that Murray used internally because they most definitely didn’t build 29000+ of this model. I’m not even sure if they built that many cars in total that year.
