Still no pictures—- what part is broke— the base, the hinged ring, the cap part, the quail itself?
Is the metal rotten?, crumbling?

I have a question on the assembly of the parts I have here. Every time I go to post a picture for you it gives me an error message. I have posted pictures on different topics before.

I am using the base of a original quail on my smiths compressor,it has one of the russian motor meters on it,I got the cap with the hole already in it ,it still works better than a reproduction motor meter flip top cap.
