Does anyone know what color the engine block is supposed to be for 1936?
Also what is to be painted? Block, Heads and Intake? I picked up some Ford Green engine paint from Napa but don't think its correct. 20240723_154330.jpg |

Bill Hirsch has the correct Ford engine green. Get the 1935-36 Ford book from the EFV8CA for answers to questions you haven’t even thought of yet.

I think you are going to find the pan should be black put that is why you should get the book. Unfortunately the club's web site is down and you will need to wait.

I have the book and went through it cover to cover. I did find it mentions dark green for the engine but nothing about the block or replacement cast iron heads.

Most 1935 and 1936 car engines came with aluminum heads and valve cover (intake manifold) and the aluminum were left unpainted. In general, machined surfaces on the block are unpainted. If you want this look, I suggest using a clear coat so rust doesn't come too quickly to these surfaces.
The block is Ford Green and I think Hirsch has the best paint for this application. If using cast iron heads or cast iron valve cover (like for a truck), these should be painted the same engine green. Pan is gloss black and water pumps are engine green too. There's a lot more detail such as the finish on the fasteners to be concerned with if you are going for a show car or are particular about it, but that's entirely up to what you want to do.

Thank you Zeke 3
As noted in my post above, I have gone through and updated a few detail items like the water pump bolts as the proper finished ones hadn't arrived yet along with a few other detail items |
