Default look what I found while changing trans fluid

1937 3 speed top loader. Believe the "gold flake" in the old fluid is brass. It likes to pop out of 2nd gear so I think it might be time for a rebuild.

Thats a terrible mess ! A lot more going on than just brass, you may not find much usable parts inside. Let us see the tear down results !

We used to look in the pans of auto trans and swirl it around to look for shiny metallic particles. I used to say it was like panning for gold. It may not have been gold but it was sure expensive metal.

New V8 Times- Excellent article about that 2 nd gear. There was a mid yr change in '39 even. Newc
