I was just using this a couple of hours ago.
I do this to prime cars and engines that have been sitting. I did this always to get my 32 running after sitting a while. I do it to the lawn mower and the tractor as well. I would pull the gas cap and blow and pressurize the gas tank. It only take a few pounds of pressure to push the fuel all the way thru and fill the bowl. Maybe everybody does this. My apologies if it is common. It is really useful to me so I thought I would post it. |

I just wrap a rag around the blow gun and stick in the filler pipe. It leaks, but I want it to so as not too much pressure in the tank. They are not made for that. Be careful, the vapors coming out are extremely flammable.

Wonderful idea. If the fuel system is in perfect condition. If you have a hint of a leak anywhere you are going to have a bigger leak and possibly a significant hidden spill. Fuel + Air + Ignition = BOOM! (and yes, NO LEAKS allowed in a pressurized line from a electric trunk mounted fuel pump forward).
Just be careful! |
