Default 31 coupe seats?

Im 6'3 in a 31 coupe its a tight fit. I can barely get my leg under steering wheel. Can the seat be taken out and a thinner one be put in? How do taller people drive these things?

Take the package shelf out and move the seat back.

If that isn't enough; take the seat over to an upholstery shop and have the trimmer replace the springs with foam, built up to a lower height on the bottom cushion and thinner on the backrest. A good trimmer can refit the original covers in a presentable manner.

The package tray ads much rigidity to the quarter panels. I wouldn’t totally remove but figure some engineering to stabilize. In a cabriolet it’s a big deal; coupe not as much. But important to the quarter and latch pillar.

I ran into the same problem with my father’s coupe. We’re both 6’1” and we couldn’t even drive it with the seat in the original position. We found a solution that gained a few inches of legroom without cutting anything. We made a 1” wood spacer that goes between the back of the seat base frame and the back of the slides. The front of the seat is left at the original height so it tilts the seat back a bit forward, allowing the seat to be moved further back in relation to the package tray. It puts the seat base even with the back edge of the seat riser sheet metal on the floor. Now it’s drivable but could be better. Next I’m going to tie down the seat back springs halfway with cable ties to gain another inch or two. The trouble with trying to get any further back is that the seat riser needs to be removed from the floor and moved back which leaves a void that needs to be filled. You’re a bit taller though so you may not have a choice.
