Default 1955-1956 Ford Full Wheel Covers

I have a question about 1955-1956 Ford Full Wheel Covers.
Take a close look at this near mint Wheel Cover for the 1955 and 1956 Fords.
You will notice that the hole for the Valve is located at the bottom when the Crest is displayed correctly.
Now, if you want to display this wheel cover on a hook through the Valve Hole, the Crest will appear upside down?
My question is:- Is the Crest mounted correctly in the above example?
I personally believe that this is how they originally were supplied by Ford.
Would love to hear what the experts have to say on this topic.

If the '54 is a good indication yours is correct. All four of mine have the hole directly beneath the crest.

Not an expert but yours is exactly like ours are on Cathy's 1955 Club sedan.

Cool Re: 1955-1956 Ford Full Wheel Covers

I think the reason is to have appear the insert as to proper display position (up) with the valve stem at the bottom. Same with styled wheel center caps.

In the olden days ... ... when mounting a tire would mount as shown and even more CDO (proper alphabetical order of OCD) would place the DOT mark on the sidewall at the valve stem so as to have the tire markings concentric to all four wheels. I still cringe today when seeing a tire not mounted concentric, even a show car.

Don't ever ask me to put a set of IGN WIRES on the engine as it usually took me three days to get everything lined up and perfect ...

I'm with you GLAmes, as you can see from this picture.
This is my display of 53 - 54 - 55/56 Ford Hubcaps.
In every case, the Crest is upside down, supporting my assumption.

I guess I have an anomaly - One hubcap the crest lines up with the hole. On the four others (all with a Ford tag on the backside) the crest is about 45 degrees off center. ????? Because of the location of the prongs that hold the crest, it cannot be changed.

Now I don't know if the oddball ones are Ford replacement or original

Close up - Tags supporting Plastic Centre.
From this view, it appears that the Centre can only be installed in 4 different positions.
