Yes, the gasket should go all the way around that opening. Another area which can be a problem is if the stand pipe is leaking or missing in the valve chamber.

Don, in your earlier post regarding the engine angle, and you commented about not using the intake carb mounting flange as a reference because it caused this problem, I told you something wasn't right. I think JWL just hit on the cause, the stand pipe to the valve chamber. What kind of venting do you have upside on the engine.

Just have the screen vent above fp (see picture)....guess I’ll have to remove intake manifold and see if anything is amiss probally check relief spring and ball ,,,plates over the drain holes, oil must be flying around in there for some reason, there doesn’t seem to be any blow by out of breather....make sure stand pipe in valley is secure and no holes,,,,,

I have found that the gasket is not covering the vent hole adjacent to the pan. It gets disturbed when installing the pan and then leaks oil directly from the pan into the vent hole.

When installing a PVC valve I usually remove the tube in the valley and plug the hole with a welch plug with a little sealer.

Did notice that the fuel pump pushrod has no washer pressed onto rod about 2 inch’s up ,wondering if this might let oil blow out vent stand pipe????

I meant just what you said, I have seen the gasket not encircling the perimeter of the vent hole like it is supposed to and engine oil comes right through from the oil pan and out the vent right onto the floor.

Should the vent tube down thru block to oil pan rail be air tight if oil pan vent is blocked off???? Thought I might loosen oil pan enough to slip apiece of shim stock over oil pan vent!, tighten back up and pressure up vent pipe to see if any air leaks out very bad,oil has to be getting in somewhere other than the valley area....!!!!!!
