Default Convertible Window Regulator Gear Replacement

The 4” gear in 1936-39 convertible window regulators often has broken/missing teeth.

I have located a NORS gear.

The original gear is riveted to the regulator frame.
Not being a machinist, I’ve watched numerous YouTube videos on removing the rivet and feel confident I can pull it off.

I need help with reinstalling the gear using a new rivet.
How do I identify and install the correct rivet?
Is there an alternative method to securing the gear to the regulator frame that does not involve rivets?

I’m thinking I could take these to a machine shop for removal/installation…but would like to tackle this challenge myself!

As always, thank you in advance!
Steve

That is a pivot post that is secured with the opposite side of the pivot rolled over to secure it to the regulator frame a bit different than a rivet, for the gear to rotate and yet retain the gear flat so it does not flex and loose contact with the mating gear teeth. Suggest grinding just the rolled head off of the side without the gear so the pivot post can be removed. Drill through the pivot post without damage to the pivot area and tap for a fine thread bolt using a lathe. Use a bolt to secure the modified pivot post to the regulator frame.

I have ground away the rolled over edge as Terry had advised in an earlier thread.
When reassembling, I have simply placed three tack welds binding the rivet and the mechanism body.

i have drilled and used a bolt before, sometimes tapping it, sometimes a nut
on my own car I searched and found NOS, the trim and hardware catalog has pictures, dug in every pile of unmarked regulators till i found some ,sold the repaired old ones
